DDOU is a massively multiplayer online game based on DnD Ruleset 3.5 .
Campain settings based on Ebberon. Game started in march 2006 as DDO Stormreach, subscription based 10-15$ per month.
On september 9 2009 ( 9/9/9 ) DDO Stormreach will be upgraded to be "free to play" and name of the game will be DDO Unlimited. I play this game since Beta :) i.e. October 2005.
What I like about game -
1. DnD whatever ppl saying it's DnD I love settings, character progression etc.
2. Active combat - unlike other games, you actively involved in combat - you can block, tumble,
hide, sneak, it matters where are you standing, behind enemy, or in front. When you in combat you moving all the time, not just standing in front of mob and smacking him till you or him die. You can hide behind pillar and archers will not be able to hit you ( unlike lotro ). Cast on run :)
3. Multiclass you can have up to 3 different classes in same character - allow you to make truly unique character with unique set of skills.
4. Dungeons - I love dungeons, :) design if awesome. DX10 graphics really kicking in.
5. Quests is actual story, not mindless kill 10 rats.
6. Group based experience - you can play solo, but DDO players mostly very welcoming for Pugs and Noob friendly.
7. Traps and Puzzles.
8. As you go into dungeon in key places you hear DM voice.
9. This is the only game where people play permadeath style ( in some guilds ) - i.e. if you character die you delete char and create new one. This is very different experience than usual play.
What is game missing-
1. Guild housing - common Turibe you did it for LOTRO , please do it for DDO.
2. Dynamic character face, same thing LOTRO have it , why we don't ? :)
3. Custom bard music.
4. More emotions, please, DnD is RPG, so more emotions is better.
My main server is Ghallanda : main is Sorc. Kudesnik, however I do have capped monk Swirl.
My pd server is Sarlona and I am in PD guild Extreme Explores ( I have link to there web site, in links ).
Feel free to contact me here or in game if you new to DDO or have questions.

I envy folks just starting out in free to play with all of Eberron's adventures ahead of them. It can be challenging at times and is possible to gimp the character you create if your not careful but the dungeons and the combat are spot on. It's really the community and the people you quest with are what makes it the best online gaming experience (for me in my limited catalogue anyway).
For veterans it will need a significant number of new quests to retain their interest and additional races and classes to co-incide would be ideal. Prestige enhancements are available for some classes and but not all and not all tiers are mapped but hopefully, in all, 2010 will be a year of great advancement for DDO:Unlimited.
